Several members of our class attended an event at the Grand Mosque on Saturday. Members learned about Islam and cultural issues of people from various Muslim countries.
We discussed use of the label “Islamic terrorist,” when those from other groups who commit crimes are not labeled according to their faith. Insight members learned about many human qualities that we all share, as well as differences and similarities of our faiths.
In our study of Ortberg’s “Faith and Doubt,” we discussed “mountaintop” moments in our life journeys. These may be life-changing moments of faith, such as spiritual callings. Some of us may leap into such moments. Others may spend years running away, before we accept these moments and their consequences for ourselves and our souls.
