On Sunday, Rev. Linda Brinkworth led our class in a discussion from Eckhart Tolle’s book, Nine Essential Things I’ve Learned About Life. Our lesson focused on how we define our version of God. How do we, as individuals, see, feel, talk to and listen to God?
Do we envision God as having a gender or as an all-inclusive being, as anthropomorphically human or as a spiritual presence without human form? The Bible is not much help on the issue, with scripture prohibiting the construction of images of God. Rev. Brinkworth explained that this may be a caution against making God into a thing.
Tolle tells us that whatever our image of God is, it is not big enough.
Next Sunday, our class will hear from Stacey Ninness, president and CEO of the Neighborhood Services Organization.
