“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” -Psalm 136:1

This is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The trees are changing colors. I love the beauty of the new colors that each tree is showing. St. Luke’s has several varieties of trees and each of them are expressing the beauty of the season in a wonderful way. We have several big trees at our home. They provide so much beauty.

The season of fall gives us more than just beautiful leaves on trees. No matter where you go now, you can see people raking leaves. You can hear leaf blowers all over the neighborhood. I have had to sweep our driveway and porch a few times to keep the leaves cleaned up. As the leaves change colors, they also fall from the trees. They make a mess in our yards, but they also serve as a beautiful reminder.

Each year, as the leaves fall, I am reminded that God provides for us in all seasons of our lives. In the cold and dreary days, the light of God’s love shines brightly on us. When the oppressive summer heat is keeping our air conditioners running all day, the mercy of God shelters us.

It is easy to lose sight of God in our midst, but if we stop and look around, we will see grace, love, and hope, even on a fall day when we are raking leaves. Take an intentional look around today and spot the beauty of God’s wonderful world. It is a strong reminder that God’s love is a constant companion as the world around us changes.
