September 7: Sister Rose and Rev. Linda Harker
Many of us strive to live a life for God but for some, their lives are dedicated full-time to the work of God. Hearing from their stories will impact our own. Sister Mary Rose Power from the Sisters of Mercy will talk about her 74 years of service as a nun in the Catholic tradition. Rev. Linda Harker is an ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church. She recently retired from her position as Senior Pastor at McFarlin UMC in Norman, OK. Linda’s journey to ministry is a beautiful faith experience. Rev. Harker currently serves on staff part-time at St. Luke’s UMC.
October 5: Alexander Mickelthwate
God speaks to us in many ways but His voice continues to be heard through some of the greatest composers of the world.  The Maestro of the OKC Philharmonic will share the Divine sounds of the ages and how the work of the Holy Spirit has impacted culture for centuries through music.
November 2: Mick Cornett interviews Regina Tisdale
Wayman Tisdale is one of the greatest basketball players to have been on the court at OU. Greater still, was his smile and his positive influence. Wayman went on to the NBA, then a career as a jazz musician before dying too soon at an early age. His wife, tells the story of loss and survival to former Mayor, Mick Cornett.
January 4: Kris Steele
  Kris Steele is a former Oklahoma Speaker of the House, but currently is the Director of TEEM, an education and employment ministry in OKC.  And he has blessed our community and many lives have been restored as a result of God’s hand on Kris and the obedience that is obvious. Kris will speak on the book of Ruth.  He will bring a beautiful young woman to share part of her story.  This will be a blessing for all of us and a solid way to prepare our hearts for the coming year.
March 1: Jim VanSteenhouse, The Bear Man

 
Jim VanSteenhouse, a former CEO from Houston, shares how he came face to face with that bear and how his survival equipped him to come face to face with his inner “Bears” and change his life. He shares his testimony in a way that few will forget.

April 4: Jeremy Kubicek

CEO, international speaker, and author, Jeremie is a powerful communicator, serial entrepreneur and content builder. He creates content used by some of the largest companies around the globe. Jeremie is the Executive Chairman of GiANT. He has started over 20 companies while living in Oklahoma City, Moscow, Atlanta and London. He is an amazing witness for God.

May 3: Jennifer Rothschild

We had technical issues at the beginning of this event so we are starting with Jennifer’s presentation.

At the age of fifteen, Jennifer was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative eye disease that would eventually steal her sight.  However, it didn’t steal her life as a wife and mother or as an author and speaker. Jennifer weaves biblical truth with relatable stories, making God’s Word accessible to those just starting out in Scripture and endearing to those who have walked with Christ for years.  She is the author of 19 books and Bible studies. Jennifer has been featured on The Today Show, Dr. Phil, ABC’s Good Morning America, and the Billy Graham Television Special.

September 8, 2021 - Eryn LeCroy and Isaiah Bailey
Eryn LeCroy and Isaiah Bailey were great friends at OCU. A year ago, Eryn played the lead role of “Christine” in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and Isaiah was touring the country in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Previously, Isaiah played several lead roles in Sight and Sound Theaters in Branson, MO. But Covid interfered, and we are so fortunate to have them perform for us before they return to their respective careers. Eryn and Isaiah put their faith to work in all aspects of their lives. This program’s focus — “The Year of Covid:  Burden and Blessing.”
October 10, 2021 - Mike Boynton

OSU Men’s Basketball Coach, Mike Boynton has ushered in a new era with a well-known theme in Cowboy basketball: winning. Boynton’s tireless work ethic can be seen on the recruiting trail.  In the last two off seasons, the Cowboys have brought in seven 4-star recruits and the highest-ranked signee in school history, Cade Cunningham. Completing his fourth season as head coach, Boynton led the cowboys to their first win in the NCAA tournament since 2009. Just as important as this new energy of excellence, is Boynton’s reputation for integrity and character.

November 3, 2021 - Betty Ferrell

Betty Ferrell, RN, PhD, has been in nursing for 42 years, focusing her clinical expertise and research on pain management, quality of life, and palliative care. Dr. Ferrell is the Director of Nursing Research & Education and a Professor at the City of Hope Medical Center in California.  She has over 450 publications in peer-reviewed journals and texts and has authored eleven books. Ferrell completed a Master’s degree in Theology, Ethics and Culture, and is active in her church, prison ministry and a worldwide ministry. Betty graduated from Putnam City Schools. One of Betty’s teachers, Kerry Robertson Kerby, enabled us to invite this amazing Christian woman.

November 29, 2021 - Kristin Chenoweth

Kristin Chenoweth is one of the brightest spots in the entertainment world.  An Emmy and Tony Award winning actress and singer, Kristin’s career spans film, television, voiceover and stage.  This Oklahoma girl, educated at Oklahoma City University, has sung to sold out crowds around the world and is always a huge hit on the Broadway stage — best known for creating the role of “Glenda” in “Wicked.”  She has numerous best selling CD’s and her book, “A Little Bit Wicked,” was a big hit.   Kristin is a happy person in a challenging industry. Her joy comes from a deep place of faith.  She sings and lives love for others and is generous to her friends and fans from every walk of life.  Thank you Kristin, for blessing your Oklahoma Esther family. 

January 5, 2022 - Amy Downs
In 1995, Amy was working as a teller for the Federal Employees Credit Union located in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building when her life changed in an instant.  A loud boom erupted and darkness enveloped her as she fell three stories and was buried alive for over six hours.  Entombed in concrete, Amy begged God to give her another chance.  Hours later, she was pulled from the rubble.  Embracing that second chance, Amy went back to college, lost over 200 pounds and became an Ironman Triathlete.  Today, she’s the CEO of that same Credit Union.   Amy’s book “Hope Is A Verb” is about personal transformation. 
March 2, 2022 - Sherri Coale

Sherri Coale is a Coach, Writer, Speaker and Believer . . . not necessarily in that order.  Her personal foundation is her roots in her faith, family and her rootedness in Oklahoma.  A graduate of Oklahoma Christian, Sherri moved from playing basketball to being a coach.  She became the winningest coach in the history of the University of Oklahoma as the head of the women’s basketball program.
 
She has been awarded “Hall of Fame” status in several organizations including the Oklahoma Sports and Women’s Basketball Halls of Fame.  Sherri is a master motivator, an engaging speaker, a gifted writer, and a keen observer of everyday life.  She and her husband, Dane, have been married for 34 years.  They have two children, one daughter-in-law, and one adorable granddaughter around which their universe currently spins.
April 6, 2022 - Dr. John Otto
Dr. John Otto is a veterinarian who has a giant heart to restore “lost” dogs and people.  John helped establish the Guardian Angels program at Mabel Basset Correctional Center and also volunteers with the Friends for Folks program at the Lexington Prison.  The programs allow offenders serving time at the facilities to train dogs considered unacceptable to prepare them for a home.  John has helped produce documentaries for television, written books, and in so many ways worked to create opportunities for this program that saves the lives of dogs and gives them a life of service to people.  At the same time, it gives the gift of hope to those who train them.
May 4, 2022 - Alton Carter and “Esther Award”
Alton is a former foster care child and a police officer.  The first person in his family to graduate from college, Alton’s book, The Boy Who Carried Bricks” won the Oklahoma Book Award in 2016.   Alton has since authored several books, is a speaker throughout the nation, a youth pastor at Stillwater First Methodist Church and always an advocate for young people who are in foster care.   Alton lives in central Oklahoma with his wife, Kristin, and their two sons.  This final program of the year, we’ll also be blessing sisters in our community through the “Esther Award” for courage.

December 2: Sarah Coburn

Sarah is an international opera star who is from Oklahoma. She is a Christmas gift to “Esther Women” from the generous, Mo Anderson. Sarah has sung many roles in Europe and America to great acclaim. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and received her Masters from Oklahoma City University. Sarah has recently been inducted into the OSU Alumni Hall of Fame. She is the daughter of the late Senator Tom Coburn and Carolyn. Currently, Sarah lives in Tulsa with her family.

November 4: Lt. Colonel Dan Rooney

 

Lt. Colonel Rooney, USAF, is a professional golfer, national speaker, and former F-16 military pilot, whose dedication to his military brethren led him to found the organization, “Folds of Honor.”  This non-profit has raised over $70 million and awarded more than 10,000 educational scholarships to the family members of soldiers killed or disabled in combat.  Rooney is the author of several books and has received many honors including the White House’s Presidential Volunteer Service Award, and named “Person of the Year” by ABC World News.  He grew up in Stillwater and lives in Broken Arrow, with his wife and four daughters.

October 7, 2020 | Patty Gasso

Patty Gasso has completed her 26th season as the University of Oklahoma, NFCA Hall of Fame head coach of the softball program.  Under her leadership, OU has won four national championships making it one of just three programs in NCAA history to win more than two national titles.  Gasso has won more Big 12 games than any coach in the league’s history.  Her players have won big national individual awards, and have high scholastic standings.  Gasso has been named the Big 12 Coach of the Year 12 times.  Patty Gasso has said that her real  job is about helping prepare young women for life not just winning games.

September 2, 2020 | J. C. Watts, Jr.
J.C. Watts is an American politician, clergyman, and athlete. Watts was a college football quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners and later played professionally. He’s chairman of the J. C. Watts Companies and recently launched the Black News Channel. Watts advises or serves as a corporate director for several major national companies. J.C. was elected to the U.S. Congress from the fourth district of Oklahoma in 1994. He served on several powerful committees, and authored legislation such as President Bush’s faith-based initiative and together with Congressman John Lewis he developed legislation to establish a Smithsonian museum of African American history.

June 1, 2020 - Anne Graham Lotz

Daughter of Billy Graham, Anne Graham Lotz has been named one of the five most influential evangelists of her generation.  She’s been on many national television shows, even profiled on 60 Minutes.  Her revivals have been held in more than 30 cities in 12 different countries, to hundreds of thousands of attendees.  Anne is a best selling and award winning author.  Anne and her late husband, Danny Lotz, have three grown children and three grandchildren.  She is the founder and president of AnGel Ministries in Raleigh, NC. Anne speaks with the wisdom and authority of years spent studying God’s Word.  Her message is consistent — calling people into a personal relationship with God through His Word.

MAY 6, 2020 - Chan Hellman,PhD, and the “Esther Award.”

Chan is an OU Professor and the Founding Director of The Hope Research Center at OU.  He has written more than 150 scientific publications and has presented at numerous national and international conferences worldwide.  Chan’s research is focused on hope as a psychological strength helping children and adults overcome trauma and adversity.  Chan is the co-author of “Hope Rising, How the Science of Hope Can Change Your Life.”  Chan holds Adjunct Professor appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Pediatrics for the OU College of Medicine and the Department of Health Promotion Sciences for the OU College of Public Health.  Along with the lesson of “hope,” is the presentation of our “Esther Award” that will be a step of hope for some sister in our community.

March 4, 2020 - Scott Stearman

Scott is a professional sculptor who tells stories through bronze and those stories are visible throughout America.  Scott’s art is often found on the grounds of Universities, Churches, and Veteran Memorials.  His work reflects his Christian faith and his love of country and those who serve.  Scott shares his spiritual story while demonstrating the art of sculpting, live, with his audience.

January 8, 2020 - Nancy Miller
One of our own as agreed to speak.  Nancy Miller has had a successful career as a television series producer and writer in California.  She created the television series, Saving Grace, which starred Holly Hunter.  Nancy created four original television series and served as executive producer on several others.  She has won many national awards for her TV shows.  Nancy is thrilled to be back in Oklahoma where she has been a part of “Esther Women.”
December 4, 2019 - Wintley Phipps
Sponsored by our friend Mo Anderson.  Wintley Phipps is a pastor, world-renowned vocal artist, motivational speaker, and education activist. He is the founder of the US Dream Academy, a national after-school program that aims to break the cycle of inter-generational incarceration.  Wintley has sung for six U.S. Presidents.  He has served as senior pastor to several churches in the Washington, DC, area and currently serves as senior pastor of the Palm Bay (Florida) Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
November 6, 2019 - Scott Pelley

Scott, is one of America’s most decorated journalist and a long time 60 Minutes correspondent and former anchor of the CBS Evening News.  His work has been recognized repeatedly with the highest awards given in the industry.   Scott has written a book, “Truth Worth Telling:  A Reporter’s Search for Meaning in the Stories of Our Times.”  He has traveled into some of the worst places in the world and walks away to write about the importance of values in a changing world.  Scott is married to Jane Boone from Mooreland, Oklahoma.

October 2, 2019 -  First Lady Sarah Stitt
Oklahoma’s First Lady, Sarah Stitt, shares a powerful personal story as she assumes her leadership role in our state. Mrs. Stitt, mother of six, plans to use her position as First Lady to advocate for those suffering from mental health issues and adverse childhood situations.
September 4, 2019 - Bob Burke
Historian, attorney, and writer of over a hundred books, Bob Burke, is a friend of Oklahoma, knows more about Oklahomans than anyone. He is also a man of deep faith. Bob has agreed to reach back into history and talk to us about the legacy of faith we have from our roots in Oklahoma. He is a master storyteller so I know we’ll enjoy his presentations.
