As Jesus made his way to Jerusalem, and toward death, he encountered two men: one blind and a mere pile of rags — in fact his name was Blind Bartemeus (Blind Son of Filth) the other a rich tax collector who greedily bent to the will of Rome and pocketed all the money he desired. Jesus broke the rules. He ordered the crowd to “usher” the unclean and untouchable man to him, and invited himself to dinner at the home of the other. And both rose to accept the Kingdom, to give away riches. In the end, neither the rich, nor the poor, oppressed, had had anyone to comfort them — until Jesus came by.
