It was good to have Sherry Misleth with us again. She and her fiance, Ray McConnell , were our welcome guests this morning.
In our continuing study of the Gospel of John, Brian introduced the lesson of Adam Hamilton, of the arrest, trial, and crucifixion of the King. As our study has lead us to understand, the Gospel of John is different from Matthew, Mark and Luke concentrating on the divinity of Jesus. There is not the agony presented in the other gospels, but a completion of his purpose, as Jesus’ last words from the cross are ” It is finished”. Having fulfilled every command of the Father and every prophesy of Scripture, Jesus voluntarily dies. No cry of exhaustion, but a statement of completion. John’s concentration on Jesus’s fulfillment of the Scripture, is to prove that Jesus indeed is the Savior. John encourages us to trust in Jesus for eternal life. Our trust built on the foundation that Jesus was sent by God and that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
Engaging in this study of the Gospel of John, has led to thoughtful discussion and understanding.
