We had about 15 people show up for class this Sunday. Our session was a continuation of an interesting look at religions and cults. We first started discussing different types of religious groups during our class on February 26.
Our discussion began with a basic understanding of Christianity as most of us see it. Questions that came up include: Who is God? Who is Jesus? Who is the Holy Spirit? How to be Saved, What Happens after Death?
We also had eye-opening question and answer session about other groups that refer to themselves as Christians, but with their own beliefs. We talked about Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, The Unification Church, Christian Science and Scientology. We also talked about groups/individuals that can and have taken religious beliefs to the extreme like David Koresh and Jim Jones.
