Day 3 of Mission Missouri was a beautiful day. The day started similar to the day before with breakfast at the church. The youth in their small groups have worked on creating a short devotional to share. Today the group had a volunteer from each group see who could “plank” the longest – meaning hold a yoga pose for the longest time. They tricked us and the team that won wasn’t the team that had the volunteer last the longest, but the team that cheered their team on the most was the winner. Reminding them to encourage each other.
Today we went to Crosslines Food Bank; they support this entire area and run primarily via volunteer support. Our team packed some small food kits to hand out to those that needed it. We were able to work there for six hours doing all kinds of repackaging for distribution to the community. The youth really enjoyed working together to get the job done. Alex said “Teamwork makes the job go quicker” and all of the kids work hard together to get all of these jobs done.
After working today we drove to Branson to watch the play “Moses.” This show was amazing, we were blessed to see our friend Isaiah Bailey play the part of Pharaoh. It is pretty amazing when Pharaoh sings his song about dominating the Hebrews and people applaud. You can see just how talented he is.
During the show there was an interruption due to a medical incident. A man appeared to have a diabetic issue. The show was actually stopped and medical personnel from the audience jumped in to help. Some were moving towards the situation before the show realized what was happening. As they were working on him someone in the audience suggested that everyone pray. It was great to look down our aisle of students and they were already in pray interceding for the man. He was able to walk out of the row and was taken out of the room via a wheelchair to a round of applause.
We also got to catch up with Phil and Stephanie Greenwald and their girls who just happened to be in Branson this week too!!! 😉
On a side note we did get our van back from the mechanics – if you are every stranded in Springfield we highly recommend Rick’s Automotive. They got us out by 10 a.m. It was only the starter that had gone out, we are back on the road in two vehichles. 🙂
