The weeks leading up to Christmas are pretty crazy around our house. With three children and a wife who is a teacher, our calendar stays pretty full. One night last week, we found ourselves coming home quite late. It had been a full day with work, school and dance rehearsals. There was just a little time to check backpacks, get baths and set out all that we would need for the next day.
As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed our oldest daughter, Ella Kate, sitting at the kitchen table. She had Christmas gifts for each of her teachers, but she had decided that she needed to write a note of gratitude to go along with each gift. It was late and she was tired, but she wanted to say thank you.
Aimee and I were reminded how important gratitude is as we watched our daughter take time to express how she felt to each of her teachers. Each note was personal, filled with her heart-felt appreciation for each person who was receiving a gift.
We are all busy. Our daily schedules are demanding. However, it does not take a lot of time to share our gratitude. When we share our gratitude, it lifts of the spirits of others and reminds us just how truly blessed, we for all that we have in our lives. When we watched Ella Kate write her notes of gratitude we were reminded of how blessed we are, and we were encouraged to follow her example and say thank you to people in our lives.
