During the holiday season, people travel all across the country to see loved ones and share in the joy of Christmas together. Unfortunately, travel can be expensive. The cost of flying an entire family is often prohibitive.
Peter Shankman knows how expensive travel can be for an individual or a family. Peter often travels for work, flying over 350, 000 miles in the last year alone. At the end of the year he had so many leftover frequent flyer miles that he decided to give them away. Peter posted his desire to give away his miles on the Internet and people began to submit their stories of why they would benefit from his generous gift of airline miles.
In 2015, Peter was able to bless four families. This year, others have joined Peter in donating their miles. Many more families will be able to be together during the holidays because of the generous and kind gesture of Peter and others.
As we look to the new year it my hope that we will continue to see the needs of others around us and find creative ways to be kind. When we are intentionally kind and give of our time, talents and resources, we can make a big difference in the lives of the people around us. Peter Shankman’s many hours of travel and work gave him a chance to be kind and bless lives. What opportunities does your daily life give you to be generous and kind? Our deliberate expression of God’s love will change lives and the world.
