“They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share” -1 Timothy 6:18

Bill and Becky have been married for just over 50 years. They live in Houston, Texas. As part of their retirement, Bill and Becky set a goal to visit every state capitol. They loved to travel and spend quality time together. Sadly, Bill has cancer, and his health now prevents their travel. They were able to visit 49 states and their capitals. Sadly, they will not be ablet to visit the beautiful state of Alaska and its capital city of Juneau.

When Bill and Becky are not able to travel, they enjoy going out to lunch at their local Chick-fil-A. In fact, Bill and Becky are regulars at Chick-fil-A. They love the staff, and the staff loves when Bill and Becky come to dine. When the staff at the Houston Chick-fil-A learned about Bill’s health they were saddened and knew they wanted to do something to bring joy to Bill and Becky.

The staff in Texas reached out to the Chick-fil-A staff in Juneau. They began working on a plan to bless Bill and Becky. The two staffs would work together to help Bill and Becky complete their goal of visiting all fifty state capitals. The Texas staff sent a picture of Bill and Becky from their wedding day. The Juneau staff took that picture and had it turned into a life-size, free-standing cutout of Bill and Becky. The staff then took “Bill and Becky” to all the important sites in and around Juneau.

The Juneau Chick-fil-A Team in Alaska created a scrapbook with all the places “Bill and Becky” visited. They sent all they collected to the Chick-fil-A in Texas. They presented the gift to the real Bill and Becky which brought immediate joy to everyone. Bill and Becky were able to experience a great adventure without leaving home.

Although Bill and Becky were not able to go to Alaska, they were blessed to find friends who were willing to help check off an item on their bucket list. The workers at Chick-fil-A went above and beyond to help bring joy to a couple who had brought so much joy to them. This act of kindness is a reminder that we have within our power the ability to make a difference. With a little effort and creativity, we can bless others and bring joy through God’s love.
