“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” – 3 John 1:4
The more things change, the more they stay the same. It was the night before her first, first day of school, and honestly, I don’t know who was more nervous. At “Meet the Teacher Night” she told her teacher she was “a little bit apprehensive.”
Had we taught her all the things she would need to know to be successful? How many new friends would she make? Would she miss her Mama, a little, but not too much? We made it through that first day and many more first days of school since then. One memorable one was when she wore her cowgirl boots without socks! She’s made great friends and been taught by wonderful teachers who have made a huge impact not only on her, but also on our family.
As I sit here the night before her last, first day of school, I have the same feelings I felt before her first night of Pre-K. She is nervous, too – but now it’s about which college to attend, what career to choose, and balancing her activity schedule. My Mama heart understands, and, even though I am “a little bit apprehensive” about what this year holds, I am praying the same prayer that I prayed so many years ago… I pray God keeps His hand on her, just as He has all along. May He put the right people in her path to help her grow deeper in her faith, and become who He has created her to be.
