My middle school years weren’t the best for me, although I’m sure many people might say the same. I was overweight and struggling with my parents’ divorce on top of being a pre-teen! I was picked on in class or at lunch and, when I became upset, I would leave the classroom and find solace in the office.

It was in that middle school office where I was comforted by an incredible principal, Mr.  Bob Eckel, who shared with me the truths of scripture. He told me that, “No matter what anyone said – I was important – that the Lord planned me, He knew my steps, and that I was enough.” He had me read Psalm 139.  It reads, in part:

            For you formed my inward parts;
             you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
                   I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
            Wonderful are your works;
            my soul knows it very well.
                  My frame was not hidden from you,
            when I was being made in secret,
            intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
                  Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
            in your book were written, every one of them,
            the days that were formed for me,
            when as yet there was none of them

How grateful I am that I was able to attend a school where I had key people that reminded me that I was enough. I am grateful for the truth found in the scripture that tells me who I am.  I am thankful that, because of God, I am enough.
