“Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
Growing up, my family took a yearly trip to Six Flags Over Texas. It was a very exciting trip for our family. As we entered the park, we would always make our way to the nearest place where we could pick up a park map. The map would show the quickest way to the best roller coasters, eating places, and shows. While we stood in line for our first ride, we would study the map.
As the day in the park would continue, we would refer to the map over and over again. It would help our fun keep moving along. Not long into the day, we would find that we were becoming more and more familiar with the map, and the park. The more we knew the better our time in park was.
Although life is not always an amusement park, I find the same to be true about the Bible. The more I study God’s word, the more I become aware of God’s will for my life. I have found that when I am striving to live out God’s will for my life, I experience a joy and peace.
God has given us a wonderful tool to help guide us in life. It is the Bible. The more we read this wonderful story of our faith, the more we become the people God created us to be. God’s word is truly, “A lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”
