Each year our family colors Easter eggs. Every year seems to get busier around the Easter holiday and this year seemed especially difficult to coordinate everyone’s schedules to allow us to decorate the eggs. It was finally decided that the only real time for us to accomplish it was on Easter Sunday after church. I didn’t say anything, but deep inside I had reservations about doing it after Easter worship. It felt like we were doing it too late – after the celebration.
Well, I have to admit, I loved it. I was reminded of an important fact. Sunday afternoon wasn’t after Easter, it was just the beginning.
There is a reason that Easter is on the first day of the week. It is a reminder that the celebration is at the beginning. We are to carry the excitement of Easter each and every day after that. Easter Sunday is not the end of the story but rather the beginning. And just in case we forget that, we have a reminder each and every first day of the week. Every Sunday morning is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Every Sunday is a sign of Easter. Every Sunday is the first day of the week – to start us off with great celebration.
So, we weren’t coloring eggs too late – we were right on time. Don’t forget that the celebration of Easter isn’t over, it is just beginning!
