“In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” –Acts 20:35

Jacob Davis is a senior in high school who has learned that helping to bless someone else often becomes a blessing to all. Jacob is a student at Comanche High School in Comanche, OK. He is a senior on the Comanche football team. Jacob’s friend and teammate is Jordyn Campbell. On senior night, in Comanche, Jacob made sure that Jordyn had the time of his life. Jacob knew that it was Jordyn’s dream to play at least once with the Comanche football team.

Jordyn Campbell is an active senior. Like most students his age, Jordyn participates in many school activities and has an active social life. Jordyn is also limited in some ways. Jordyn has Cerebral Palsy. His mobility is through the use of a wheelchair. Being confined to a wheelchair makes many activities difficult, but that does not stop Jordyn. Jordyn’s mom said his toughest days are because he really wants to be in the field with his team, but he keeps a smile on his face as he cheers them on from the sidelines.

The Comanche Football Team wanted to make Jordyn’s hope a reality. Led by Jacob Davis, the team worked to make it possible to get Jordyn on the field. While playing John Marshall, Jordyn’s number, number 52, was called. Jordyn took the field with his friend, Jacob and his team. When the ball was snapped, Jordyn was handed the ball and both teams rallied around him as the fans in the stands erupted with cheers. The applause grew louder as Jordyn approached the end zone and scored for Comanche.

During that special play, the football teams, coaches and fans were focused on helping to make one young man’s dream become a reality. For a brief moment in time, both teams suspended their focus on the game and gave one student their full attention. That night, the real winner of the game was not determined by scoreboard. Each person who helped to get Jordyn in the game learned that helping another succeed is a great victory for all.
