Pat Younts opened our class with prayer and led us in a study on Revelations. She used several sources – Adam Hamilton’s Making Sense of the Bible, Disciple Bible Study 4 and a video of Marquis Laughlin reading highlights from Revelations.
John is exiled on the island of Patmos and he is writing a letter to seven churches. It was in a time when you were expected to worship pagan gods and also the emperors and were persecuted if you didn’t. We talked about Adam Hamilton’s 4 common views of reading Revelations – futurist, historicist, preterist and idealist. Pat presented some good facts for taking the scariness and mystery our of reading Revelations and lots of good discussion.
