“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” –Joshua 1:8

Every year I have the privilege of leading one the Disciple Bible studies at St. Luke’s. Disciple Bible study is a 32 or 24-week course that requires each participant to study a significant amount of scripture each day. Once a week the participants come together to discuss all that they have read during the previous week. Disciple Bible study is a challenging class, but well worth the time and effort that it takes to successfully complete the class.

Each year, as a new class begins, I tell the class that I am not simply there to be the class leader. I am in the Disciple class because I need to be part of a Bible study. I love to be part of a Disciple class because it gives me a dedicated time and direction to immerse myself in God’s Word.

Reading and studying the Bible is wonderful food for the soul. Each time I read or re-read the stories within the pages of my Bible I find encouragement and strength for the struggles of life, and I find vision and purpose for my life.

I want to encourage you to find a Bible study that will help you to immerse yourself in God’s word. As a Christian, we need to commit ourselves to growing in our faith. God has given us a wonderful gift in the Bible and when we study this amazing book we put ourselves in a position to experience the fullness of life that God intends for each of us.
