I can’t remember which day we’re on…

So I literally can’t remember which day to put in the title…technically we’ve been here since Sunday, but since we didn’t really work, I don’t think I was counting it yet really not sure.  So let’s call this Day 4.  Yes, day 4 has been great!  One of the families that the firewood team went to chop and stack wood actually helped them the entire time which really allowed the team to fellowship with this mom and son who had lost the father/husband last year to cancer.   It really impacted each of the team members in different ways and helped unveil the importance of the work they were doing.  VBS was great, and a few of the shy kiddos from yesterday really opened up today which was adorable to see.  Connie and her crew were able to talk with both of the “hosts” who got into a conflict yesterday which really helped everyone involved…closure and friendship is so, so important.

After work was done, we all drove up to the town of Talkeetna to hopefully get a glimpse of Denali…not so lucky thanks to the clouds.  But the laughter just continued on the entire trip regardless of the rain.  Lynn said it best when he mentioned that he told his wife that he really felt he has added 14 people to his loved ones’ list.  We all just have such a special bond now and really have grown to become family over the past few days…crazy, yes, but when you spend so much time together, you’re either going to love or really hate each other.  Good thing the first one prevailed!  The other add to our friendships is how it (friendship) has no age with it.  It is amazing how we all have formed such great friendships and we range in age from 22 to 69 (I think).  The only down side to this ageless friendship is that it gets us “youngsters” in trouble when we talk about older people and turns out, the person we’re telling the story to is actually older than the person in our story…and this keeps happening!  Sorry old folks, turns out you are in fact too fun to be your actual age :).

Yet again, I am blown away at how God assembled the perfect team for the trip and has placed us in all the right situations.  God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
