Sanctuary | Livestream | On Demand

The earliest movies about Jesus portrayed Him as someone so holy that He was disconnected from humanity. Artwork often shows Jesus as a gaunt, dying man on the cross. The “John 3:16” signs and victorious athletes thanking Jesus for their win are another reflection on His nature. Each time we encounter someone’s image of Jesus, it has the potential to shape our own. It is important we know who Christ is and isn’t. Join us for an in-depth study on the nature of Jesus Christ.

How Long Do I Want to Live?
Rev. Dave Poteet | Room 130 | 6:30 p.m.
(1st 5 Weeks Only)
Modern medicine has enabled us to live longer and longer lives but how long do we actually want to live? As we think about length of life versus the quality of life we’ll ask that question. This is a class for all ages as we ask questions about life and death such as, what do we want to accomplish in life and how can adult children help their parents think about their final years in a positive manner.
Dave is the Pastor of Congregational Care at St. Luke’s and has served St. Luke’s twice during his ministry. He served for five years at St. Luke’s after graduation from Perkins School of Theology, then helped plant Bridgeview UMC in Norman in 2000 and returned to St. Luke’s in 2010. The Power of Encouragement
Stuart Malloy | Room 106 | 6:30 p.m.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Leo Buscaglia
Encouragement means being caregivers of one another. As a hospice chaplain, I observe daily the power of encouragement and how it impacts the lives of patients, caregivers, and family. Through discussion, videos, and life experiences, let’s take a look at the nature of encouragement, the methods of encouragement, the source of encouragement, and the results of encouragement. It might just re-shape our lives and our journey.
Stuart has served in the field of hospice for over 15 years which allows him to take the practical side of religion, healthcare, and theology and to see how it operates in the most challenging condition in our life, our mortality. He is Director of the non-profit, People Caring for People, working with the disenfranchised of our community and world.

What are the differences and what are the similarities? “Christian Cousins” will take a look into other expressions of the Christian faith and how their worship practices, ministry practices, and biblical interpretations differ from the Methodist traditions and interpretations. We will host guests every week who will share their faith perspectives with us in an interview setting.
Worship is the central practice of the Christian faith. Each week, we gather to worship God. It is a moment unlike anything else we experience the rest of our week. Why do we worship the way we do? All are invited to come and explore the joy of worship.
God’s everlasting faithfulness endures forever – but God’s love is revealed in an endless number of ways. The Bible has numerous examples of God working in the world through unexpected people in surprising situations. Throughout scripture and history, God has called women and men, the young and the old, the powerful and the weak, the popular and the outcast to show His love in new and imaginative ways. While the world around us tends to enjoy the status quo, Christ is continually doing a new thing. How can each one of us truly share God’s love in new and meaningful ways? Join Bob and Wendy for this Bible study that looks at God’s creativity in showing love.
John’s gospel is full of some of the most symbolic stories we find in the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry. The images are full of love, redemption, and life. Rev. Kent Ingram leads this four week WNA On Demand Class on the first 11 chapters of Genesis describes what it means to be human, with all of our God given glory and our brokenness and sinfulness. These beautiful and moving stories help us see who we are in relationship to God and to one another. They also set up the Bible for the narrative of redemption. What are we redeemed from? What are we saved from? In this pre-history of Genesis we will learn what we mean when we say we are truly human!
How do we connect with God? How do we experience the presence and power of God at work in our world and in our lives? How do we experience the life transforming power of God in worship and in our ordinary, daily moments? When we connect with God, we become the people who are capable of sharing God’s love and hope with our world.
