When you and I have faith in Christ it creates such possibility in our lives. It creates hope that moves us beyond our pain, grief and failures. But, how can we embrace this and what do we need to do to claim the power that our faith ushers into our lives? I think there are three important things to think about.
#1 PRESENCE OF GOD
First of all, each day, seek to stand in the conscious presence of Almighty God. I love the way author Richard Bolles talks about being in the presence of God in his book, “What Color is Your Parachute.”
In one section of the book, he writes:
“Your first mission here on earth is one which you share with the rest of the human race: to seek to stand hour by hour in the conscious presence of God, the one from whom your mission is derived.”
#2 COMFORT OTHERS
Secondly, when we are willing to stand with others through their pain and be a blessing, big shifts can occur. It’s strange, actually that being there for others allows you to heal, but it does. Even when you’re in the midst of your own struggles, being there for others, offers healing beyond words. You want to heal from your own painful experiences? Stand with those in pain and seek to bless life and you’ll be shocked at what it does for your own soul.
#3 EMBRACE THE PRESENT
Third, be willing to embrace the present moment and live for today. This takes courage, especially when you’ve been hurt. Being present allows us to hear from God and slows us down so that we can embrace the fullness of life; to laugh, to love and to live well with the moment we have right now. This is YOUR moment. All of us have a limited amount of time, but we have been given the gift of life. So what do you do with that? You stand in the conscious presence of God. You become more aware of those in need around you and out of gratitude you seek to bless life. You live in the present moment and understand that God calls each of us to make this moment count!
