Bible Point: God wants us to love our friends no matter what.

Key Verse: A friend loves at all times.  – Proverbs 17:17

Ruth chose to be faithful to her mother-in-law, even though it meant leaving her home and everything she’d ever known. God wants us to love our friends and be loyal to them no matter what, as Ruth did (Ruth 1:1-22). Strengthen your family’s faith learning and growth at home with this easy idea.

1. Tell your children about your best friend. Explain why you’re drawn to that person and what makes that person so special. Share a few memories you have of that friend and what you’ve learned about friendship from that person. Encourage your family members to share about their best friends as well.

2. Then talk about the kind of friend each of you would like to be. For example, you might talk about character qualities such as kindness, loyalty, or generosity.

PRAYER

God, we want to be loyal, loving friends just like the people we talked about. Thank You that we can have a friendship with Your Son, Jesus. Please use that friendship to teach us how to be better friends to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
