As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: – 1 Peter 4:10
I am blessed to come from a musical family. Growing up in church, there was always someone in my family in choir. My grandmother was the church pianist and choir leader. I was blessed to share in a small part of the gift of music. I play a few instruments (not very well) and I love to sing. I have spent some time in the church choir and other music ministries. My talent is limited, but I am always willing to share, especially when it comes to worship.
Part of my willingness to share comes from the encouragement I received from my grandmother, early in life. She gave me a little sign that hung in my room for many years. This little sign read:
Your life is a gift from God
What you do with it is your gift to God
I took that small message to heart. I offered what I had to the Lord. I hope there were times those gifts helped others worship.
God has given each of us gifts and talents to use to bless others. When we share our gifts of time, finances, and talent, we truly make a difference in others’ lives. Using our gifts in service to others blesses God, as well.
I want to remind you that you are a gift from God. Your gift may not be music, but you were created by a God who loves you, to do good works (Ephesians 2:10). When you use your gifts and talents, you will not regret it. You will find joy and peace and meaning serving God and others.
