An unlikely hero. A surprising friendship. A message about grace that goes deeper than you’d expect from a green ogre from a swamp.

A Summer Where Broadway Meets Worship

St. Luke’s on Broadway is halfway through its summer run, and this week we’re bringing something a little different to the Sanctuary. Talented guest performers fill the room with songs from Shrek, The Musical, while Senior Pastor Dr. Bob Long uncovers the spiritual truths that have always been hiding in plain sight in this beloved story.

Children can dress up as their favorite fairytale character, so bring the whole family. Some of the best spiritual truths come wrapped in the most surprising packages. Come find out what Shrek has to teach us about grace this Sunday.

About Shrek, The Musical

Once upon a time, there was a grumpy ogre named Shrek who just wanted to be left alone in his swamp. Then, through a series of very inconvenient events, he finds himself on an unexpected quest with a talking donkey by his side — and a princess who is far more complex than any fairy tale would suggest.

Shrek, The Musical is a story about love that looks beyond the surface. It’s about belonging, even when the world has told you that you’re too strange, too loud, or too different to fit in. It’s about the layers we carry — the ones we show the world and the ones we guard carefully — and the transforming power of being truly accepted by another person.
