Darkness changes our perspective. Our inability to see makes it difficult for us to move and to operate freely. When it is dark outside or inside our house, it can seem as though we are in completely foreign territory with no idea what is right in front of our faces. When our surroundings are dark, it leaves only our imagination to paint a picture of what surrounds us.

My last year of seminary was challenging. It was academically demanding, to say the least. I had several classes that were going to require significant reading and writing. One class, in particular, had me nervous before the semester even started. I knew the work would be hard, and on top of that, there would only be a few students in the class, so I would have to come prepared each time.
