Easter is more than a moment or one day of celebration. You and I can live in the spirit of Easter all year long when we stay connected to the grace of a risen Christ. Let’s look at three ways that living in the spirit of Easter can transform our lives.
#1 CELEBRATE
The season of Lent is a time of self-reflection and introspection. It’s a time to get honest about our lives, face our fears and move closer to God. The reason Sundays are not counted in the 40 days of Lent is because every Sunday is suppose to be a “mini Easter.” Every Sunday, we are called to celebrate and remember the Resurrection. Even with Lent behind us, we can stay connected to the celebration of Easter when we celebrate the power that calls us forward into living a life of meaning!
#2 POWER OF CHOICE
We all face hardships in our lives when we are overwhelmed with responsibility, financial debt, etc. It’s easy to become disillusioned and complacent, but Easter reminds us that we have a choice about how we will respond.
I’ve always been a fan of Charlie Brown “Peanuts”. Charles Schultz was such a great writer. He was a man of great faith and a many people may not realize that he was a true theologian. I remember seeing Lucy and Charlie Brown in the cartoon strip once; they were having lunch and Charlie Brown is complaining that he hates lunchtime, “It’s always the same, I hate lunch!” Lucy said, “Well Charlie Brown who packs your lunch? “ He thinks for a moment and says, “Well I do.”
If you’re not happy with your life, who’s packing your lunch? We all have a choice.
#3 BE AN ENCOURAGER
Easter reminds us that we are forgiven. When we receive the gift of grace and forgiveness, we want to share it with others. I believe we experience the true spirit of Easter when we become the sons and daughters of encouragement. When we love deeply and bless others, it leaves the world a better place! No matter what your situation, God can use you to leave this world a better place.
