Today I launched on a journey with 4 old/new friends – Lauranne, Odetta, Bonnie, and Lori! We left OKC headed for Ulyanovsk, Russia at 10:30 a.m.
We arrived at Atlanta airport and ate a bite at TGIFridays and then had a little devotion together. Lori shared how our journey made her think of Moses call to go to the Israelites.
We boarded the plane in Atlanta at 5:45 and headed to Amsterdam. Our flight path flew us right over Dublin, Ireland and Manchester, England!!! We arrived at Amsterdam airport about 2 a.m. After a layover in Amsterdam, which is beautiful by the way, we flew to Moscow.
Our travel time was over 24 hours of flying when we landed in Moscow – we were exhausted. Lauranne’s friend Dimitri met us at the airport with a taxi, and we went straight to our Hotel. It was a large complex built for the Olympics (we were in Gamma). Once we were checked in, we went down to the restaurant to eat a buffet meal. Lauranne went to see Dimitri’s family. The buffet was good – I had some really good chicken wings. We had some Sweet Danish pastry and puffs with coffee for dessert. Then it was off to bed.
Looking forward to tomorrow where we will get to tour some of Moscow before getting on an overnight train to Ulyanovsk.
