Bible Point: God helps us be loyal friends
Key Verse: “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).
We learned this week how Jonathan was loyal to David even when Jonathan’s own father was trying to kill David. We also learned that God wants us to be good and loyal friends like Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-4; 19:1-7; 20:1-42). Strengthen your family’s faith learning and growth at home with this easy idea.
- Gather family members together and ask them three or four questions about loyalty. Questions might include: What does it take to be loyal? Who’s the most loyal person you know? What makes him or her loyal?
- Have family members ask several friends the same questions. Afterward, get together and discuss what you learned about loyalty.
PRAYER
God, we want to be good and loyal friends. Please help us be loyal to our friends, even when it’s hard to get along with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
