“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalm 118:24
Donna Mad dox loves an adventure. She is a bit of a daredevil. When the opportunity came her way to experience something unique, she jumped at the chance. Donna was able to join up with a professional driver at the Michigan International Speedway and take several laps in a beautiful Ferrari. They reached the top speed of 150 miles per hour, and all the while, Donna was smiling.
Donna is a resident of Waltonwood Twelve Oaks in the city of Novi, Michigan. She is 94 years old. Donna is described as joyful. She is also passionate about enjoying life. Donna says, “If you’re alive, then live.”
Dorothy Hoffner was excited about breaking the Guinness World Record for the oldest skydiver in the world. At 104 years old, Donna said, “Age is just a number.” Dorothy set her walker aside and boarded a plane in Ottawa, Illinois. She was joined by her tandem partner. She made a successful jump and became the oldest person to skydive. The person who previously held the record jumped to 103. This was not Dorothy’s first time. She first jumped when she turned 100. Her friends at Sky Dive Chicago said, “We are forever grateful that skydiving was part of her exciting, well-lived life.
You do not have to go 150 miles an hour or jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet to live an exciting life, but Donna and Dorothy are a reminder that God has given us the gift of life, and God intends for us to live our lives fully. (John 10:10) Each day is a gift of God. How we use that day depends on us. We can focus on our limitations or seize the possibilities in front of us. God created us, intending for us to live a blessed life and a life that blesses others. The adventure is in front of us. Let us jump into today and make the most of the gift our God has given us.
