“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” -Hebrews 13:16
Each day we are faced with opportunities to bless others. As we go about our daily tasks, moments arise when we can truly bless another person. It may be a small inconvenience, and it may even be a bother to us, but doing good for someone else shows them the love of God and reminds us of the joy of being kind.
Sak Yiengjuntuek is a restaurant owner. He also owns a building where a furniture company had recently been located. Unfortunately, the furniture business experienced a fire. The furniture business closed. After they vacated the building, they left behind a few pieces, including a small cabinet. It was junk that Sak had to move out so the building could be cleaned.
When Sak went through the building, including the cabinet, he found a small case. It was a case for holding large sunglasses. Curious, he opened the case, and when he did, he found a stash of cash. All $100 bills totaling $12,000.00. He immediately knew the money belonged to the former owner of the furniture store.
Without hesitation, Sak reached out to find the rightful owner of the money. It turns out that the previous owner not only lost his business but was dealing with a health issue. The return of the cash would be a significant blessing.
Not only did returning the money make a difference to its owner, but the local news interview with Sak Yiengjuntuek also inspired many others. Sak says that other people now know him and what he did. People all over have been encouraged by his kindness. He hopes his kindness is a reminder to everyone “to do the right thing.”
Each day is filled with opportunities to be kind to others. When we go out of our way to do good, we will share God’s love and bring hope to the world.
