Of all the things I could fear in life, I am the most afraid of failure. Failure to be a good mother, a good spouse, or a great worker. Failure to exercise and maintain weight, failure to look “put together” on social media, and worst of all, failure to spend enough time in the Word and with God. There is a constant driving force in my head that requires me to work as hard as I can to check as many things as I can off my list each day, so that I can quiet the voice that constantly is telling me “You are a failure.” It can seem more important that my house is clean, that I have the perfect balance of social media time, but the one thing that can quiet the nagging voice of “failure” is the one thing that tends to get pushed off until the next day is my time with God.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” I am so amazed that God never says ‘I will help you if…’ or ‘I will help you but…’ He says that he will be with you no matter what. Even if you fail at one thing. He will continue to restore you, love you, and follow the plan he has set out for you.
I encourage you today to make a spot on your “to do” list and make it a priority to spend time with the Lord. Allow God to restore you and help quiet the voice of failure, knowing He will love you through it all.
