“The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” –Exodus 15:2

One of my favorite Bible stories is the Exodus of the Israelites, the story itself spans the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. For about 215 years the Israelites were held in captivity by the Egyptians. With the help of Moses and Aaron, the high priests at the time, some 600,000 Israelites escaped slavery in the middle of the night.

After the Israelites were led out of Egypt, they started on their journey to the Promise Land. During their journey, the Israelites worried and complained to Moses and Aaron about needing food. The first time Moses and Aaron went to the Lord with the Israelites concern over food He provided manna for the morning time and quail for the evening. Each family was given the exact amount they needed. The Israelites then became concerned about what to drink, so God instructed Moses to strike the Rock and He gave them water from the rock to drink.

Each time the Israelites worried, Moses and Aaron presented their worries, and the Lord continually provided for them. For me, while I don’t typically wonder through deserts, and have a fear of running out of food or water, when I begin to worry, if I take my concerns to the Lord, he will provide just enough to sustain all my needs.

What concerns do you have that you have been hesitant to take to the Lord for fear that he won’t provide?
