This week I am in Washington, D.C. to visit The Museum of the Bible. Next year St. Luke’s will take two trips to the MotB; one the first week in April and the second will be in May (let me know if you’re interested!) Each trip will be an immersive Bible Study with the family of faith and also have visits to important sites in the area. Today Dr. Long, Rev. Phil Greenwald, Rev. Josh Attaway, and myself spend the entire day at the Museum of the Bible to begin plans for the upcoming trips. Dr. Long and I took our Wednesday Night Alive class to the Bible exhibit a few years ago – it was an amazing experience but what we saw today was beyond what we could ever imagine.
The Museum of the Bible is seven floors of technological, audiovisual, interactive experiences that share the story of God’s message.
I was moved by seeing the ancient texts as well as the modern virtual reality that all communicated the truth, importance, and nature of scripture. All the staff were excited about the work they do. We were there from the very opening of the museum to the moment it closed this evening, yet we did not have the time to get through even 1/3 of all there was to see. I am convinced of the importance of maintaining this museum for all people.
I want to ask you to do three things. First, pray. Pray for the long-term reach of the museum. Currently they have no admission fee but will accept donations. They want everyone to be able to have access and connection to the beauty of God’s Word. Pray for people to go and see the exhibits – the churched and the unchurched. Second, share. Share the message about The Museum of the Bible. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram @museumoftheBible. Encourage people that you know to visit. Third, support. Prayerfully consider supporting the mission of The Museum of the Bible by visiting the museum as well as your financial gifts. Both will be investments that will pay off in big ways.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
