After finishing our work at Miss Annie’s we headed to a local public school to re-paint one of the classrooms. This is the first time we have all worked on the same project in one room. It has been interesting to see how everyone always seems to come together and get the job done. When we started painting we were not sure we could leave with a finished project. The humidity was high and the air was not moving very much which meant longer dry times. We finished our first coat before lunch expecting to work well into the afternoon when we returned. To our surprise the paint covered better than we could have expected when dry. During our time of work at the school many children and a few teachers would stop by and greet our team as we worked. With brushes and rollers in hand we painted the day away, as we enjoyed the sound of children enjoying music class just next door. In a time where arts programs are being cut in our American schools it is comforting to see that a public school in Roatan, Honduras sees the importance of keeping music in the lives of their children.
