Bible Point: Acting like Jesus shows we’re Christians.
Key Verse: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Good trees produce good fruit and bad trees produce rotten fruit. In the same way, our good or bad actions demonstrate whether or not we’re followers of Christ (Luke 6:43-45). Strengthen your family’s faith learning and growth at home with this easy idea:
1. Talk with your children about the kinds of actions that demonstrate whether a person is a follower of Christ. You might focus on how a person treats others or how someone acts when no one is watching.
2. Share areas in your life where your actions are pleasing to God and areas where you might fall short. Encourage family members to think about one area in their lives that can show the good fruit of following Jesus.
3. Encourage each person to focus on following God in that area for the next seven days.
PRAYER
God, we want other people to look at our actions and know that we’re followers of Christ. Give us the strength to follow You in everything we do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
