I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13
Who would have ever thought I would be so blessed with things far greater than material objects – to the umpteenth degree. I have three beautiful girls that are all successful in their lives. They are 26, 34, and 36. Michelle, my oldest daughter, is a Pharmacist. My middle daughter, Becca, is a Project Manager, and Mandi, my youngest daughter, is the Children’s Center Director at St. Luke’s Downtown Campus.
To say we have not been faced with challenges would be a lie, because no one and no family is without its problems. But, considering what a challenging child I was, they have blessed my life with their love of life and the Lord. They all went to Oklahoma Christian Schools and were raised with God as a main focus in their lives. They were model students, and all went to college. Although some days, weeks, and even years were harder than others. The struggles were real, our family’s love and the Lord have been the strength that has brought us through the many hurdles we faced.
Nine years ago, my oldest daughter Michelle gave birth to a son, my first grandchild, Mason Layne. It was the greatest joy I had known since I had my own children. I had so much fun loving on him, and I would go and see him on my lunch hour every day while she was on maternity leave. After her maternity leave, I saw him every day as he attended St. Luke’s Children’s Center, where I was the Director. What a treat to have your grandchild with you every day! Two years later, Michelle had another son, Carson Riley, so then I had both children with me on a daily basis.
In October of that same year, my daughter Becca had a son, Jacob Ethan. Now I was the proud grandmother of three boys. This was so different for me, because I was one of three girls, then I had three girls. My girls then had boys! Becca would bring Jacob to my house every day and I would take him to school at the Children’s Center with me and take him home.
Mandi, my youngest daughter, blessed me with a granddaughter in December 2015. How wonderful it is to buy bows and lace again, and I see her all the time as well. She is a feisty little 2-year-old now and a great addition to the family.
I am so proud of my family and what a meaningful life God has given me. Take the time to stop and think of all the things that make your life meaningful. It will definitely put a smile on your face like it did mine!
