“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” -Proverbs 10:9

Our new sermon series is “The Most Important Advice.”  We all have had good advice shared with us that has truly made a difference. When that advice is shared by people who have our best interests in mind, that advice helps move us forward towards success. I am so grateful for the good advice I have received. I am thankful for the wisdom of those who have walked ahead of me and shared from their journey.

Many of us have heard one famous piece of wisdom: “Honesty is the best policy.”  It is believed that Benjamin Franklin first wrote this phrase. It is indeed powerful advice to live by.

Recently, Josh O’Hara demonstrated how important honesty is. Josh is a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. While out on his route, Josh found some cash in a driveway. Josh was worried that someone from the home had dropped the money without knowing. He picked up the cash and went to the front door. Josh rang the doorbell, but no one answered.  Josh wrote a quick note that read, “Found on your driveway.” He put the note and the money in the door and went on his way.

When Sara Haiduc came home that evening, she found the money she had lost earlier in the day. Sara received much more than that. She was truly blessed by Josh’s honest kindness. Sara said it reminded her, “If you can make somebody smile, or you can help somebody in any way, even be a support for them, do it.”

Josh is the talk of the neighborhood. His honest action that day has inspired others. Far more valuable than a few dollars, Josh has shown people that true blessings come from being honest, kind, and selfless. It is timeless advice that still makes a difference today.
