“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” – Hebrews 13:16
There is no doubt that teachers are a special group of people. They do far more than just educate our children. Teachers care for our children all day long. They show their students unconditional love. Teachers bless the lives of their students each and every day.
A family in Alabama realized how important teachers are in the lives of their children. Courtney Adeleye and her husband were deeply grateful for impact children’s teacher had. When they found out that this teacher took several buses each day, hot or cold, rain or shine, just to get to work, they knew they needed to do something.
To show their gratitude, the Adeleye family bought a new car for their children’s teacher. This was a tremendous and generous gift. When they presented the gift, the teacher broke down in tears. It was truly blessing for the hardworking teacher.
There is no doubt in my mind that this teacher was most deserving of this wonderful gift. However, it was a statement by Courtney Adeleye that reminded me a of an important lesson this week. When describing their gift, “THIS right here is the definition of success!” Courtney and her husband have obviously been successful in their work, after all, they had enough to buy someone else a car. However, the Adeleye family doesn’t define their success by what they have earned, but by what they are able to do to bless others.
What is true success? I have to agree with Courtney Adeleye. Giving to others in need and helping another person succeed is true success. How will you succeed today? Who will you bless today?
