“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2
Have you ever had days where you feel like the world is against you, and you can’t get anything right? Those are the days when you have said the wrong thing to ten different people, and you’re not explaining yourself, or you are being misunderstood. This day in particular is the day that you don’t feel like you make a difference. These are the days when you need to STOP and do some serious reflection. I believe that EVERYONE makes a difference in somebody’s life.
Every day, the Childcare Staff intentionally makes a difference in someone’s life. To start the day, we have children that are being dropped off as early as 6:30 a.m. Some children have an easy drop off, but others need a little extra love and attention. When the children are upset, so are the parents, and this gives our teachers a chance to make a difference for both of them. To console the child, and show how deep our love runs, and to help the parent walk out of the center to start their day, knowing their child is in good and caring hands.
Every day the Directors and Assistant Directors intentionally make a difference in the teachers’ lives. They make the schedules, and make sure the teachers have adequate breaks. They make sure that our teachers are appreciated in every way, from the first “good morning” to making sure they are thanked as they leave the building in the evening, and have said goodbye to the last child and talked to the last parent about each child’s experience.
Administrative staff and teachers are the core of our childcare center. They are the ones who plan all the activities. They have to attend trainings and keep up with all the latest regulations, both in the licensing standards handbooks and with the Health Department. There are many regulations and our staff goes above and beyond, in an effort to make sure St. Luke’s Children’s Centers are in compliance and following the rules. This has been proven twice this year as St. Luke’s Children’s Centers was named the #1 childcare center by the Journal Record, and the #1 childcare center by the Daily Oklahoman Readers’ Choice. This was a great honor that the parents, past and present, made possible for us to receive.
As the Executive Director of all of our childcare facilities, I want us to continue to make a difference in children’s lives. I want us to continue to grow and learn new ideas to bless all of our children and parents. I try to make a difference in someone’s life every day, and I encourage my staff and you to do the same thing. Won’t you join the staff of St. Luke’s Children’s Centers and bless someone’s life today?
Gabrielle Moon, Executive Director St. Luke’s Children’s Centers
