February 3, 2026 – Daily Devotional
The past week has been a bit out of character for Oklahoma. Sure, we are used to having an occasional snow day or two – but the amount of snow and ice, plus cold temperatures, had many churches shifting to online services only when the snow came down the first weekend. Then the snow kept schools closed for about a week because it lingered much longer on the roads than we are used to.
In fact, even over a week later now, I’m sure there are still some areas where you will see snow a bit longer. Those places may be the large piles that were plowed in parking lots or that shady spot in the corner of your yard. Those areas take longer – more light and more warmth are needed – before they disappear.
My brother, Aaron, who is a pastor in Tulsa, recently compared these snow piles to what it’s like when we have anger in our lives. He acknowledged that we may be able to plow a path as we try to move on, but usually, there’s still a corner of pain, or grief, or bitterness that remains untouched. Then he said this, “Anger is like snow; if it isn’t exposed, it won’t melt, and it’ll keep everything cool around it. So don’t neglect your anger, expose it to a little light by being honest, being curious, and being mindful, and it, too, can melt away.”
It’s so important that we take all of our emotions to God. Jesus is the light of the world and breaks through the darkness. Through the light and love of Christ, we do have the power to bring healing and wholeness to our lives.
