Baseball season is well underway. As the temperature rises, baseball fields across the country are filled with exceptional athletes who dream of one day playing Major League Baseball. Many start playing around the age of five, and their dreams grow with age, experience, and, of course, watching their favorite Big-League stars.

Paul Skenes grew up playing baseball. He excelled in multiple positions on the field, and he excelled in the classroom. When he was offered an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy and an opportunity to play baseball for the Falcons, he gladly accepted.

While at the Academy, Paul excelled in baseball. It was apparent he was a special player. He would eventually transfer to Louisiana State University (LSU), where he would become the SEC Picture of the Year and the first overall draft pick for the 2023 Major League Season.

It did not take long at all for him to settle into the majors. Paul would quickly work his way through the farm system and join the starting lineup of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2024, at the age of 23, Paul Skenes won the National League Rookie of the Year.

This season, Skenes has decided to donate $100 to the Gary Sinise Foundation for every strikeout he throws. In his rookie year, Paul Skenes threw 170 strikeouts. If he matches that again this year, he will donate $170,000.00 to this wonderful charity that supports veterans, first responders, and their families in need.

Paul Skenes understands that true success is not measured by how well you play the game, but by how you are willing to use your success to bless others. He has already demonstrated his ability to be a dominant pitcher. Now, Paul Skenes is showing generosity that will allow others to succeed, as well. In the years to come, Paul Skenes will continue to break baseball records, but he will also change lives as he practices generosity.

God has called us all to live a life of generosity. When we give of our time, our talents, and our gifts, we can bless others. A commitment to living a generous life will allow us to share God’s love and bring hope to the world.
