I always enjoy the sermon series “Music That Changed the World,” because music has always been a big part of my life. Music inspires me and has always helped me through hard times in life.

Recently I heard a song on KLOVE that caught my attention. The more I listened to the song, the more I realized why it caught my attention in the first place. Most of the words of this song express the way I have felt before in my life. The song is “No Matter What,” by Ryan Stevenson. The first few lines say: “A lot of us grew up believing at any moment we could lose it all, and at the drop of a hat, God might turn His back and move on.” I remember growing up thinking that God had turned His back on me and that I was not good enough for God to love. I had been taught at a young age that everything bad that happened to me was God punishing me for something I did wrong. It took many years for me to realize this was not true.

The song goes on to say: “No matter what you’ve done, you can’t erase His love. Nothing can change it, you’re not separated. No matter where you run, He’s always holding on. You’re still a daughter, you’re still a son, no matter what.” Sometimes I still need this reminder. No matter what I have done in my life, God still loves me, and He always will. When this song comes on the radio, I always turn it up and sing along. When the song is over, I thank God for always being there for me. This song helps me to remember to be thankful for who God is and for all God has done for me.
