Due to the threat of COVID-19, my dining room table is my new office until further notice.  One GOOD thing about my new office is its large window.  I enjoy looking outside occasionally, knowing about the weather, and glimpsing a bird or squirrel.  My office at church is an inside room with no windows and while that helps keep me on track, it’s also quite isolating.

I’m looking for the GOOD today.  If I don’t go to the grocery store for a few days, I’ll clean out my refrigerator and pantry.  If I don’t drive to work, I’ll save wear and tear on my car.  If I work in my pajamas, I won’t have to do as much laundry!  Those are all GOOD things!  I’ve reached out to friends, relatives, and church members today who may be lonely and feeling isolated in their own homes.  If I’d been working in my St. Luke’s office today, that likely wouldn’t have happened.

How about you?  Are you looking for the GOOD?  It’s all around, even if we’re home alone and isolated from other people.  GOOD is present if we have food, water, a warm bed, a safe home, basic medical supplies, and are relatively healthy.

GOOD and GOD are so close in both spelling and meaning; I guess when I’m looking for GOOD today, what I’m really doing is looking for GOD!  Somehow that seems different!  Where is GOD today?  He’s here with me in my home office.  He’s with you wherever you are, and He’s with your family members and friends.

Psalm 139:7-12:  Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.  If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Are we isolated?  Never!  GOD is always present with us and in us.  GOD is GOOD!
