“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” -Matthew 6:21

Gratitude inspires us to be generous. When we understand that we have all that we need and are grateful for all that we have, we grow in our willingness to bless others. Gratitude helps to look beyond our struggles to see that we have been blessed. We have so much to. Be grateful for. When we live a life of gratitude, our actions will be a blessing to others.

Latavia Bennette is the owner and CEO of Homebridge Health Care. Her business provides care for many residents in Norfolk, Virginia. By almost every measure, Latavia’s business is successful, and she is so thankful for what she has accomplished. When Latvia learned that one of her employees was struggling, she knew she needed to help her out.

Brettne Brownson is a dedicated employee at Homebridge Health Care. She is a happy and joy person. Brettne is also a single mother. Brettne’s biggest struggle was that she did not have a car. She would often walk to work, sometimes spending money on an Uber. When Latavia Bennette learned about Brettne’s issue she was reminded of a time in her own life when she struggled. She wanted Brettne to know that she was valued and that she had her back.

It took a few days, but Latavia purchased a new vehicle for Brettne and organized a surprise reveal for her. Brettne was overwhelmed with the generous gift, to say the least. Her hard work and positive attitude were rewarded. It was a moment that brought great joy to the entire team at Homebridge.

Gratitude leads us to a willingness to be generous. Latavia Bennette lives a life of gratitude. She remembers what she has and where she has come from. Her gratitude for all she has now leads her to bless others. When we are intentional about living a life of gratitude, we will also find ourselves growing in generosity.
