Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10
As a child I had very negative experiences with the church and was never taught about God’s love and grace. I spent much of my childhood and young adult life searching for something. Searching for something or someone to bring me peace, bring me joy, bring me love. It was not until much later in my adult life that I finally found what I was searching for. I finally discovered the one thing that I needed most. I needed God. I needed to take time each day to seek God, and build a relationship with Him.
Now I wake up each morning and spend the first few minutes of each day thanking God for the day He has given to us. I also spend time asking Him to show me His plan for my day. As I am driving to work or going about my day in the car, I listen to KLOVE and take that time to praise God. It helps remind me that God is always with me. These small things have become very important to me each day. They help me to stay connected with God and seek Him first. Sometimes life gets busy. I find myself being rushed through my morning and I do not take the time to be with God. When this happens, I can tell a big difference in my spirit and how I approach the day.
Recently I had a very busy week and on top of everything else, my car was in the shop. Thankfully I had a loaner car to drive. I felt rushed each morning and did not take the extra time to talk with God. The loaner car I was driving had a radio that was very different from mine and I did not have the time to figure it out and find KLOVE so I could listen while driving. It felt like everything was going wrong that week. I was stressed and frustrated. I felt like I was not accomplishing anything at all. The day that I was able to pick up my own car from the shop and return the loaner car, I finally realized what had been wrong all week long. I started up my car and heard KLOVE playing one of my favorite songs. It was then I realized that I was not taking time for God. I sat there in my car and asked God to forgive me for not taking the time to be with Him each day.
That long and demanding week showed me how much I need to focus on the one most important thing each day. When I first focus on God, I have realized He will work out everything in His time! I hope you will spend some time each day focusing on the one important thing that makes a difference in our entire day; our time with God.
