“As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” – 1 Peter 4:10
Logan Moore is a happy little boy. He enjoys all the things a growing little boy enjoys. Logan has a wonderful imagination and is always active. Logan has one obstacle to being an active young boy. Logan has Hypotonia. Hypotonia is decreased muscle tone and strength in children. The result is that children often have a difficult time walking.
To help children like Logan experience better mobility and build strength in their muscles, the children often use special walkers. These unique walkers are difficult to acquire and expensive. Logan’s parents knew he needed one, but their insurance was not going to cover the cost of the walker. Christian and Justin Moore turned to YouTube to see if it was possible to build one themselves. They found several videos showing them what they needed and how to build the walker.
Justin and Christian made a list and went to Home Depot. When they arrived at the store, they told an employee what they were doing and asked for help to locate some of the parts they needed. The Home Depot employee stepped away, and when he returned, he was accompanied by the manager and another worker. They talked with the family for a few moments and then encouraged them to go for lunch and some ice cream. The family left for about an hour and when they returned, they found that the Home Depot employees had built the walker for Logan. The Home Depot employees even took time to personalize the walker to help make it extra special for Logan.
Logan is a wonderful little boy who needs a little help walking. The team at Home Depot was happy to be the help that got Logan on the move. A few wheels, some PVC, and nuts and bolts were the pieces that were needed to make the walker. The knowledge and effort to complete the project was provided by the employees. It is a reminder to us that when we have the ability to help, we should do so. When we see someone in need, we should take the time and make the effort to build up the people in need around us.
