For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. -2 Timothy 1:7
One of my favorite Christian songs, that I often hear on KLOVE, is called “Fear Is a Liar” by Zack Williams. The first time I heard this song, it sent a very powerful message to me. It reminded me that too often my past comes back to haunt me. I feel like the devil tries to tell me things like, “You’re not good enough” or “You’re not worthy,” but these things are lies. Fear will make you believe only the negative things about yourself while having little to no hope for the future.
We need to be reminded of the powerful lesson I have learned from this wonderful song that helped to change my world. We need to learn to, “cast your fear in the fire, cause fear he is a liar.” God does not see us as unworthy or not good enough. We are the children of God and He loves us no matter what. We are good enough and we are worthy of God’s love. We need to replace all the negative things, the lies that fear tells us with the grace and love of God. When we cast our fear in the fire, and let God’s love inside, we can see that fear is truly a lie. We are not the failures and shortcomings of our past. We are what God says we are.
