“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

This has been the Year of Gratitude at St. Luke’s. We have been encouraged to write a thank you note each day to someone that has blessed us in some way. This has been a wonderful opportunity to thank people in our lives and to also make us more aware of all our blessings.

As I sat down to write my cards, it brought me such joy to think how blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life. It brought me joy to think about how truly blessed I am. I decided that not only was I going to thank the people around me, but I also wanted to take the time to thank God. He is the one that brought these wonderful people into my life. He is the one that blesses me beyond measure! All that I am, all that I do, and all that I have are from God, from the many blessings He gives to me each day.

There is a saying that I have seen posted on Facebook many times. It says, “What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for last night?” How many times are we too tired and we rush through our prayers at night, not taking the time to thank God for all He has done for us? As this year draws to a close, let us all remember to take the time to thank God each and every day for all the wonderful people He has brought into our lives, and for all the many blessings He has given us.
