“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” –Ephesians 2:10

When I was in college I had no clue what I wanted to be when I grew up! It wasn’t until I was about a month from graduating with a degree in finance, that someone sat down with me, looked me in the eye, and told me that they believed I was going into the wrong field of work. They told me that they believed God had put me here for a different reason and it wasn’t to crunch numbers. Although I knew this was likely true, I had never really thought it was an option at that point because I was so close to graduating. I dreaded telling my parents that the college education they’d paid for was really not the one I’d needed. A few days after that conversation, I was offered the position as the Director of Children’s Ministries in Edmond. I could be a part of the team responsible for starting a brand new part of the already-incredible St. Luke’s ministry. God was truly speaking to me in a big way!

Then I took time to sit, think and pray about it. What were the pros and cons, what would be best for my family, which direction should I go? I’m so thankful I accepted the offer from St. Luke’s. My parents were thrilled that I’d found my calling, and fully supported my decision.

God reminds me each day that we are called to love His children. It’s a joy for me to be able to help them, teach them, and listen to them. That is the ONE THING God has made very clear to me. His plans for all of us are so much better than anything we could ever imagine, and it doesn’t matter how far or hard we run, or even if we get the “wrong” college degree. We just have to listen and be obedient. He will always make His presence known, and guide us in the right direction.
