“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” -Hebrews 10:24

The St. Luke’s Poteet Theatre is a small community theatre with big talent and an even bigger heart. It is hard to watch a show in the Poteet Theatre without a smile on your face. The cast and staff are a wonderful group of people who love to use their talents to bring great shows to life.

This past weekend, the students of one of the Poteet summer camps put on the show “High School Musical.” The cast included 54 students on stage, singing and dancing and putting on a great show. Two of my daughters were in the cast. We loved watching the show. Watching these students grow into wonderful and talented actors is a joy.

The show took three weeks to prepare. The directors and camp staff worked in advance to prepare the camp. For 15 days, the students spent the entire day at the theatre, learning music, choreography, and blocking. Others worked on lighting, sound, costumes, lunch, snacks, and so much more. It took so many people to make this great show happen.

It reminds me of how important it is to work together as a people of faith. We need each other. We each have gifts to share that will allow us to communicate the love of God with the world. Bringing God’s kingdom to earth, as it is in heaven, requires us to live godly lives and give generously of our time, talents, and resources.

When the students took the stage this past weekend, they performed the song “We’re All in This Together.” This song is energetic and exciting. More importantly, this song is a central message of the show. The students learn that when they work together, they can all achieve their dreams. I loved this message, and I am sharing these lyrics with you today, as we think about how we can work together to share God’s love and bring hope to the world.

We’re all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We’re all stars
And we see that

We’re all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come true
